Reverse VC Pitch Party: Austin

Today October 7, 2010, from 6:30 PM - 9:15 PM (CT) in Four Seasons, 98 San Jacinto – “Reverse VC Pitch Party: Austin”  http://reverse-vc-party-austin.eventbrite.com/ is taking place in Austin, Texas, organized by Larry Chiang (he is entrepreneur “Asse9” - that stands for Austin Secret Society of Entrepreneurs 9 http://twitter.com/LarryChiang). This event must be pretty interesting for entrepreneurs who are seeking VC investments (like me), it's actually a party where VCs pitch US entrepreneurs.  Here are some of the VC's that are going to be present:
- Luke Nosek (Founders Fund)
- Jon Teo (Benchmark)
- Mark Suster (GRP)
- Rob Hayes (First Round)
- Ethan Kurzweil (Bessemer)
- Dan Doman (Austin Ventures)
- Joel Yarmon (Draper)
- Aziz Gilani (TexasVC)
- Janet Zhou (Blue Run Ventures)
- Sharam Fouladgar-Mercer (Sierra Ventures)
- Eric Engineer (Sevin Rosen Funds)
- Rajiv Bala (S3 Ventures)
I am a co-founder of the company DGT-West (CA); we develop electronic hardware and software.
I am for the first time attending a Larry Chiang-organized event and I hope the conference will give me what I am expecting from it:
First of all I expect to get networking, new connections with VC’s as a result, and in the ideal case get one or more VCs interested in our product, maybe schedule father meetings with VC's and/or get references.
Our product is a game character which needs day to day care and  exists in a computer video-game and can also be ported into an iPhone or any smart phone application. The character “grows” (is being "fed" ) according with the level of user's physical activity, recorded with a small measuring device worn separately. The game can be extremely effective at stimulating both children and adults to be physically active. We have a prototype ready for test (I’ll bring it to the event) and we are looking for money to finish our hardware and software and do marketing research and eventually bring it to the market.
I'll follow up with feedback from this event on this blog so be sure to check back soon.
